Art, Robert, Ron,

Since the theme had shifted to boat covers, I started a new thread.

Art,

For winter do you think Sunbrella is that important, or is rugged durability
the issue. I used a Harbor Freight tarp over the past winter and it worked
fine. That sucker is tough. As I recall the Harbor Freight tarp was
recommended on the board, and it worked well.

There’s much less sun in the winter, the boat might be left for an extended
period, and ice, snow, and high winds are big issues. I don't see sun damage
a the big issue - you disagree?

I see summer cover as a separate issue; the boat’s on the water, your out
there often, you don’t have to deal with ice and snow, and there’s a lot more
sun.

Thoughts?

Robert,

I’m trying to sort out what you’ve done, it looks like an extended ridge
line. Am I correct?

You have to strike your mast and remove your furler for it to work? We didn’
t strike our mast this past winter, and I’m not sure we will want to, unless
we have to, or there’s a problem. That might be an issue.

What kind of tarp do you use? Do you secure the tarp to the boat or just
weight it?

Ron,

I would think you’d get water, and especially snow, pooling on that cover,
unless you had support running from the transom to the cabin, has that been
an issue? Are there supports under the cover? About what level of wind has
your cover survived?

Dave
