Peter,
We've never done any real cruising having just sailed around our little
lake. We are quite familiar with Ocracoke and love it there. We try to
vacation there every few years at the least. We are very familiar with
Silver Lake and the public docks. It's going by boat to Ocracoke that
intrigues us. I must say traveling with a group would be the only way we
would even consider it. It's one thing sailing within 100 yards of land at
all times at our lake and quite another to cross the Sound. Having other
sailors close at hand would help provide us with the comfort factor needed
to attempt such a trip. We do need to improve our skills and confidence and
this sound like the ticket to do so. Besides, it's been a while since we
sailed with Raven, would be good to see her again (and meet her fine
skipper, of course!). Let me talk to the admiral some more, but in the
meantime, put us down in the "maybe, maybe" column. I see you managed to
schedule around Virginia Tech football, good timing! - rob
