Dave,
Although I won't personally be in the market for a 27' boat, I suspect an
R27 will have a lot of the R22 benefits that most of the competition does
not. MUCH better cockpit, postive floatation, trailerability, adjustable
draft, unique enhancements, better customer support, and of course; a far
better e-mail list.
Hunter's advantage would lie in their efficiencies through mass production
and supply procurement. That doesn't necessarily mean they would pass those
savings on to the customers. With a semi-custom shop like General Boats, I
don't have to pay for features I don't want. Since everything on a boat
costs an arm and a leg, that can save the buyer a lot of money.
If I were to invest money in the R27 project, I think I'd want a good
portion of my funds dedicated to the website. The General Boats website is
infinitely better than its competition when it comes to written information,
but almost all of the competition is better when it comes to professional
photography. A picture is worth a thousand words. Maybe Stan should hire
