Tom, It is a great oppertunity to learn right from the beginning.  If an ASA 
program was around in the early 70s I would be a much better sailor today.  
I spent 20 years learning things the hard way.  Check out ASA.com to locate 
a school near you, it will pay dividends in your enjoyment of your first 
year and first boat.  If you want to learn on a R-22 and can travell drop me 
a note and I will send you my schedule when it is posted.  Good luck and
