[Rhodes22-list] Gracie is Gone With The Wind

Elle,
Funny you mention that. I've been out on the deck enjoying a glass of wine
and watching movements under Cora's playset, Gracie's old hangout. It was
nothing but the dozens of rabbits that Gracie could care less about. A few
years ago we gave our backyard neighbor the responsibility of taking care
of Gracie while we were in China for three weeks. The two of them bonded
and they walked together, every day, ever since. When I got home from my
parents two days ago (another aging issue) my neighbor confronted me with
the obvious decision: "it's time". Gracie did know it was time to go and
you could almost see the relief on her face when we put her on the table.
It still hurts though. My brother and I had our ususal
end-of-the-day-how-is-business-on-the-coast discussion this evening with the
daily issues of who wants what for free. Today was a good day to ask for
favors, I was in a giving mood. Sorry for being so sappy. I'll get back to
being a cold hearted capitalistic SOB tomorrow.
