Great to hear that you are still on the list.
Thank you for your insights on the Ford Van. I have the 150 version with
five lug nuts. It has about 90,000 miles and is generally in good shape.
Makes a good tow vehicle. I was looking for the heavier version when I
found this one. It was in very good condition and a very good price.
Do you still have inside information at Ford? I gather that this problem
has been with the 150’s since the late 1990’s. Thanks for the warning about
the steering column. That is why I wanted more accurate and detailed
instructions before I attempted to go in.
However, Brad’s suggestion of heat causing problems and dirty contacts is
very good. Corroded contacts get hotter than clean. Also corroded contacts
cause intermittent problems. It could be that by just cleaning all
accessible contacts, the problem may be ameliorated. Before I go back to
the dealer, I want to identify as many contacts as I can and clean them. WD
40 may be good, but there are better electrical contact cleaners out there.
Any suggestions where I can get pictures of the contacts involved?
The wiring harness is a rat’s nest. It must be expensive to replace too.
All the information that I find says that the 1999 is the same as the 2000.
I know it is not the same as the 1998.
So you snuck in and visited Greenville and Lake Hartwell in October?
Pulling another Tom T, stopping at Rummy’s for booze and not telling the
rest of us? Rummy did not tell us either.
