Thank you for your continued advice on finding my problem.  Horn – horn
connections – yes, I have been there - clean thoroughly and tighten
connections.  My two looks at this set up said stop and ask some questions.
There was a day when picture type diagrams existed to identify what was
what.  This beast has a wiring harness of about two dozen wires.  Many
different colors, but I did not see any nice labels.  I am familiar with
corrosion’s effects especially exposed connections like to horns, starters,
batteries, alternators, et al.  This is why I would appreciate a picture
diagram so I could pull appropriate connectors and use simple brass brush
and contact cleaner to clean up.  
So my next attack point will be under the hood or dog house trying just to
clean connections.  The last time I got involved with such a project the
older van was still directly connected to steering rods.  Here all I see is
hydraulic connectors.  That is why I when I was already having something
done by the Ford Dealer I requested them to trouble shoot this problem. 
Intermittent problems are always a challenge, but for somebody who works on
this type vehicle, I expected an organized analysis, maybe based on having
seen similar problems.
