I have a 2003 galvanized single-axle Triad with brakes.  While hauling the
boat last fall I parked next to a little van with a small sailboat -type
trailer.  Shortly after I hauled, the other trailer took on a 23' sailboat
that is specified to weigh almost as much as the R-22.  Every component of
my trailer was at least 70% larger than his, including the wheels, yet my
rubrail was no higher and no harder to climb up and down.  

The Triad is very sturdy and well-designed.  It is worth it.  The design is
licensed to Stan so you buy through him or not at all, although you might
even save a bit if you picked it up in CT.

I just purchased a new single axle galvanized trailer from Stan after using
an older painted trailer for the past five years.  No comparison, the ride
is much more stable and the brakes make a huge difference.  As I understand
it, the 6 lug wheels are because the trailer has a heavier duty, 5,000 lb
axle vs. the 3,500 lb axle previously used.  The whole trailer is
"super-sized" with heavier materials and is much easier to use.
