Thanks for the tip I am planing a trip to Center Hill at the end of the month stopping along the way at ,Benton,Ky (.North end of Ky Lake) just to see what it looks like.
I sent for a Real Estate book for the Seneca ,SC. area .After spending a day or two at the lake I will swing down and ck .out the lakes in North ,South Carolina .
May be time for a little back grown .I 63 ,a retired truck driver .We do have a budget and the cost of living
is something I have to keep in mind. Also my wife wants to stay within a day's drive of MI., kids and grand kids.
Hay ,as long as I am in SC.Do you think would Stan put me up for a night ? It not that far out of way.
Once again, thanks for the help ,today and in the past
Bill D.

Bill:
Welcome to the club. I just spent the last year rebuilding a non Rhodes 22
FRP sailboat. I also keep my boat at a medium sized marina that tackles any
repairs that come it way so I have seen a variety of repairs.
Any FRP can be rebuilt, it is just a matter of is it worth it. Stan does
not usually tackle recycles or non brand boats that require major repairs.
Stan has many years dealing with small FRP sailboats and can make reasonable
judgments as to value after repair. I suspect that boat you are getting may
have sustained some damage but not major.
Jim Terry was on this list several years ago. Why not try to
get whole story from him? His email address was terry at msis.net. We all
would really be interested in his story, especially my nemesis Thena who
lives less than 50 miles from where he lived.
You should have checked out lakes down this way. There is not
only Lake Hartwell, but also Keowee, Thurmond, and others. I will concede
that land by our lakes is much more expensive. But that is because of its
desirability.
Also we are about 4 hours from the coast. Are you into wooden ducks? See:

Go to the Festival News page and look at the name of the president of
Carolina First Bank? Hummm?
Here is another neat event. Years ago I used to go every other
year, but that was when you get a room nearby on short notice at regular
costs. Now the nearby rooms are booked years in advance. However, you can
get a room within range reasonably:

This event is centered on the Duck Stamp contest. I used to know one the
artist who won it about 15 years ago. Now it is a national event. If you
need some good artwork to hang on the wall of that house you want to build,
the stuff sold here has a special flavor. That includes not only the duck
and wildlife artwork but the coastal artwork. This is an enjoyable winter
event. This could be that special event for your wife.
