Art,
Nothing magic about Charleston except that my wife and daughter love the
city. Since I will be sailing with my son (well, actually in the
vicinity of my son) to Key West during his spring break, I feel that it
would only be "fair" to take my dolphin loving daughter somewhere during
her spring break.
I would only be there for about 4 days, as I am predicting that I will
need several days to recover from the UT Spring Break trip before
embarking on another one.
So what do you know of options for a trailer sailor at Hilton Head? My
wife doesn't fancy sleeping on the Rhodes just yet, so my thoughts would
be to find a hotel and a place to keep the boat in the water for day
sailing. Or, travel by boat to some hotel/marina that is small sailboat
friendly. Nirvana would be to find a waterfront bungalow with a dock to
park my boat, and a driveway to keep by truck and trailer. The
challenge seems to be finding a public access ramp where you can safely
leave your trailer (or car and trailer) for a few days.
Bill W.

Bill,
If you're not fixed on Charleston only, Hilton Head is a dream,
reasonable cost, simple for the transit, and perfect for quality
sailing. I can fill you in more if a possible option.
