	Welcome to the Rhodes List.  You will find that I am nit picker extra
ordinary.  You used all capital letters in your post, and our protocol is to
use small type except when yelling.  Now we all appreciate that you were
ecstatic and yelling for your first sail and post.  

	You asked several good questions and I am sure you will get some good
responses.  In the future, you might include detail information as to your
best guess what the hatch is made of.  A good guess will give us a small
clue.

	There are other newbies on this forum.  Take an example from Jay or John
and learn how to post pictures of your problems.  There is a learning curve;
however, you have a bunch of spoiled captains who just love pictures,
especially of naked ladies.  But, sailboats come in second and some may have
the correct answer to your issues.

	You might consider posting a picture or two of where you sail.  Do you have
to contend with icebergs?  Some of us have no idea where Olcott, New York
is.  Is that anywhere near the attached picture?
