Bud,

I don't run for office for the same reason I don't get into corporate
management.  My attention span is five minutes at best.  My bosses don't
take it personally anymore when I sneak out of meetings but they do call
later to get feedback.  I like my day job just fine, move article A from
point B to point C.  Teaching is more challenging and also more rewarding.
I'm taking a week off from the list to go to the Mississippi Gulf Coast and
deal with that, uh, problem child.  You are in charge of the world's
problems.  Nothing bad happened while I was in Alaska on a cruise last
month, so the world is apparently safe without my input.
