Robert,

The T-34 Mentor Navy trainer is basically a Bo with a conventional tail and
some more aluminum in the wing.  I think they still use them, at least they
had some at the last airshow I attended last month.  The problem with my
vintage and model of Bo is that the 'V' tail will twist off with too many
G's and too much speed. Plus, any engine without an inverted oil system
can't run upside down but for a few seconds unless the entire maneuver
remains positive G. A  problem all along with V-tails has been:
inexperience + oversized gonads = ugly death.  I fly like the old, er, make
that 'seasoned' man that I am - sunny days and smooth air.  Even at my day
job I work under the "young bull/old bull" rules.  Please don't make me tell
that joke.
