Hi, guys,
My neighbor & I winterized the engine & water system
on WaterMusic today which generated several
questions.
First of all, the boat will remain in the water for
the winter. As my neighbor & I share the dock , we use
three bubblers to keep ice from forming & heaving the
pilings & engraving the waterline on the boats (in
extreme comditions..)
While winterizing we noticed that the macerator
discharge is a below-water line through-hull but does
not have a seacock....the hose is clamped and open to
the river.
My concern is that any pink antifreeze that was pumped
into that hose when winterizing the head is diluted
from the seawater....and if that hose freezes & cracks
I will have a great demonstration for the flotation in
the hull f the R-22.....
Admittdly it would take extreme conditions for that
hose to freeze & crack...but we do have some severe
stretches of winter here. The bubblers will help to
keep water moving but if temps drop low enuf for long
enuf it could be a problem.....
My choices now are to use a lightbulb or some type of
heat stick in the forward battery compartment during
extreme stretches....
And then next year have a seacock installed so I can
close it & drain the hose...
Suggestions, anyone?
and thanks...

We can't change the angle of the wind....but we can adjust our sails.
