Related sail question. We've decided to go to a new furler for the
genoa. Not because of any problems but because we want to be able to
take down the genoa without lowering the mast. Looking at the
Schaeffer Snap-furl rather than the CDI as eventual plans call for an
additional working jib and the Schaeffer will allow easier sail changes.

Because we need some work done on the genny anyway we are planning
purchase the furler through SailCare and have them do the repairs.
They will recondition the sail, repair some stitching, put the proper
tape and luff pad on the luff. They are suggesting that we replace
the Sunbrella with a newer type of UV resistant material that is not
as heavy (wish I could remember the name of it - I do remember that
it only comes in white). Has anyone done this? Seems like a good idea.

Originally we were going to have them clean and recondition the main
as well but I think we are leaning toward getting a new main with the
vertical betten next year.
