Dear Linda,
A comment of yours caught my eye. " I know that it will more
comfortable and easier to set-up than our old Lightning" I was sailing
Lightnings 40 years ago, I raced some but cruised more. I sailed the boat
from Naples Italy over to the Turkish border with Greece, so I know what a
Lightning can do. The Rhodes22 is the closest thing I know to a lightning
in responsiveness and stability and a cockpit that is as long, wider and
more comfortable (no centerboard trunk!) I've owned A Rhodes 22's since
1976, done a lot with them, sailed the Sea of Cortez and the Bahamas and all
the Chesapeake Bay. If you enjoyed your Lightning, you will love this boat.

Rex,
Thank you for your reply. I had posted my question before I wrote to Mr.
Spitzer. He tells me that they don't sell used boats, although they had
planned to, because they 'recycle' all of the used boats they receive.
Stan seems to have an incredible following among his customers.
I also appreciate your kind offer of a sail on your boat, but I think I'll
just take people's word that it's a good boat in all types of wind. I know
that it will more comfortable and easier to set-up than our old Lightning.
If I may ask, what kind of tow vehicle do you use?
Thank you again,
Steve.

Not sure if you are not wanting responses from those of us who have recently
purchased 'recycled' Rhodes 22 from the factory---but I did May 2006 (1988).
It is still on the water for about 4 more weeks in west central Indiana if
you want a ride. Stan's a good guy and loyal to his customers if your
concerns are about dealing with General Boat. I trailer all the time and
access to water shouldn't be a problem if you have water within trailer
range. Let me know if you want to come over---about 1 hour north and west
of Indianapolis.

Hello,
Does anyone have recent experience with buying a used, not necessarily
a "recycled" Rhodes 22, from the factory?
I'm considering a purchase and given the limited opportunities to sail here
in central Ohio,
I thought this would be a cost efficient option.
Thank you in advance,
Steve Scott
