Earlier this year, three children of an octogenarian boat building parents
decided they would get their parents a gift. The gift was intended to take
their parents for a trip to the islands this winter.

While their father loved sailboats, they concluded that it would be better
for them to have an appropriate motor vessel. They were to take delivery
and sail it to a marina near their parents' home on the coast.

Here is what they ordered: 65' - Custom built motor yacht complete with
staterooms, a state of the art galley, G.P.S. system and radar for
navigation, twin supercharged diesel engines, etc..... $2.5 million.

And see the picture of the boat on delivery day:

The day was here and they were on the dock at a booth prepared by the boat
company. Champagne, chocolate covered strawberries with cream, and music
dockside for the excited "soon to be owners" and a small group of
friends...... costing over $500.00

Two corporate representatives, crane and rigging complete with faulty
turnbuckle..... $2,500 / hour

And see the picture:

Watching your dreamboat nose dive into the harbor, accompanied by two
corporate representatives just prior to "inking" the final paperwork . . . .
. . Note the guy in the Stern!

One brother said, “I told them "Just forget the whole deal, I didn't like
the color anyway!”

The daughter, who knows a thing or two about her father’s sailboats, turned
and said, “
Dad’s boats are self righting.”
