Sheldon:

Two comments: First, the archives have all post including pictures for many
years. Many no longer reply to post on this forum because they get tired of
posting the same answers to the same questions posted over several years.

Second: Recently (like in the last few days), Luis Guzman posted a picture
an attachment point on his boat. I suspect from the equipment on the boat
that it might be his '82 (he has two boats). I am attaching his picture
with a notation labeded 'D' for distance. I do not have an available
picture of the attachment point on my boat, however, I provide you with some
points of information. My attaching hardware (hinge device) is similar.
The location is not. My hinge is mounted much closer to the winch and
appears more medial (that is closer to the centerline of the boat).

I have seen attachment hardware closer to the rail and have even seen one of
the attaching hinges on the rail car. Also, new boats may have attaching
hinges that are recessed into the gunnell so when you do not have the bimini
aboard and want to sit on the gunnell, you can do so. Commodore Spitzer
would know how to mount the differening hardware.

Addendum: "There are certain disturbing things we simply would rather not
realize. Because it is preprogrammed and mindless method of responding,
automatic consistency can supply a safe hiding place from those troubling
realizations. Sealed within the fortress walls of rigid consistency, we can
be impervious to the sieges of reason." - Robert B. Cialdini
