[Rhodes22-list] Fugawi enc, a reply

Software $240 or so
Palm/Windows Handheld $0 (if you have one already like I do)
Bluetooth GPS receiver $30 to $149 depending on features 

I figure I will do the whole pachage for less than $320, plus a
flotation/waterproof bag for the GPS if I like the setup.

If not, I'll use it in the car.

I understand once you have the software, the charts are available free. You
run the software on a laptop hooked to your GPS & you get real time position
on a chart. The software is $250, GPS $450, Laptop to run it on $1000,
knowing where the hell you are, priceless.

At one time I actually had a proto type or development copy on an older
computer.  It took up a lot of space and was not easy to use.  The for sale
copy may be easier to use, but I suspect that it will still take a lot of
memory.

Last spring we had a discusion of the 'map tech' software which you can down
load for free.  I occassionally use it.  It give nice charts, only hangup is
with free copy you cannot print out.  Solution would be to put on lap top.
