Robert,
I bought a Chevy HHR last March. It wasn't new, but an '06 model with
about 18000 miles on it. I think it would fill most of your requirements
fairly well. It's been getting between 30 and 32 miles per gallon
average per tank full, on a regular basis and on one trip to Chicago I
averaged 34.5. Lot's of room, very nice to sit in and especially to get
in and out of, which is important to us now with Sandy's current
physical limitations.
I've got a hitch on this one
Pretty zippy for a four-banger
Been pretty happy with this car so far.
Might be worth a look.
