Robert,
For what its worth, I have an RX-8 and a Miata.  I've been pleased with
both Mazdas and would not hesitate to recommend them.  Handling is good
and I've had no mechanical problems (although both are low mileage).

Lee, a good friend bought a Mazda-3, then drove to Maine 
from Colorado.  He loves it.  Took me for a ride, and I 
was impressed with it.  It is tops on my list in form and 
function -- and price.
