Michael,
I'm not local but I recently went thru the same process.
I took the basic keelboat classes, then I purchased a 1990 (recycled 2003)
Rhodes 22.
First sailboat with almost no sailing experience. I've owned it 6 months &
I've been sailing 4 times.
The first 2 times out were disasters. I think I would have capsized in any
other boat. Very high winds & no experience, not a good combination. The
next 2 trips were great, 1 overnight. It didn't take long to get a feel for
the boat & soon we were dipping the rail in. (on purpose this time) As a
beginner, you certainly purchased the right boat.
