Thanks Slim ...That helps , I was wondering how you got room to paint under the bunks .I would never think about tacking the wheels off
Thanks again Bill Davidge

Rob, thanks for reposting my pix.
Bill, to get the bow timbers in there, you jack up the bow as high as it
will go with the trailer's tongue jack. Then put in as many (high) timbers
as will fit. Then lower the boat onto the timbers and crank the jack back
to its shortest length--the wheel will be off the ground. Then put some
timbers or a cinder block or something under the jack wheel and crank it up
to its max again. Now you have room to add even more timbers under the
bow. Then lower the boat onto the timbers and remove the block from under
the jack wheel and lower the tongue as low as it will go. If you rotate the
tongue jack to its traveling position (parallel to the trailer frame) you
can lower the tongue all the way to the ground which will give you lots of
room to paint. Of course you can't paint where the timbers are or where the
boats stands are so when you're done with the bulk of the job, you then
lower the boat back onto the trailer bunks, remove timbers and stands and
paint the little areas where they were. And, uh, be sure to save some paint
to get these last three little areas. I offer this reminder because...never
mind, you can probably guess.
Incidentally, before I purchased my boat stands, I used that same method of
jacking, blocking, jacking some more and blocking some more using cinder
blocks under the stern. You can see from the pix that I have jacks on the
rear of my trailer. Also, once you have the boat up on blocks you can
remove the wheels of the trailer to lower it even more so that the trailer
axle is sitting on the ground. I had to do this one time when I didn't have
enough cinder blocks to get the height I needed to clear the bunks.
I hope I'm being clear. If you have any more questions, fire away.
Slim
