That's technically true. However, in real life, you probably would have 
no trouble at all. You got the points that I wanted
1) That you would technically be out of compliance
2) That you COULD be mistaken for a larger boat (though it's really not 
likely)
3) That you couldn't just turn off your running lights. Even though that 
would turn off your "extra" stern light, it would also turn off your 
sidelights. If you turn off your sidelights, you're identifying yourself 
as a vessel at anchor. Not good.
