Actually, it was neither. The statement was that it was EASIER for a 
camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter 
the kingdom of God.

There's speculation that Christ was talking about a gate in Jerusalem 
called The Needles' Eye. For camels to enter the gate, they had to have 
everything removed that the camel was carrying, and the camel forced to 
its knees (not an extremely difficult task, they're usually trained to 
kneel for mounting), and then move forward through the gate on their 
knees (now THAT'S more of a task).
