Hi Mike,
Just returned from another landlubberly vacation and saw your questions.

Re the bimini: I don't think it really matters which way it goes. I
do know that it covers the edge of the poptop enclosure better in one
direction - but I don't remember which one it is. It also may be more
likely to rub on the boom that way - ours has a few small holes from
that though they may be from the way we store the bimini. We stow the
bimini whenever we leave the boat in its slip for more than a day. We
store it folded and lashed to the boom. In use, we routinely have
ours strapped down with the two aft straps and only one of the
forward straps to facilitate going forward. We just wrap the loose
strap around its support.

Re the winch and bow support: We always retrieve the boat with the
bow support moved to its most forward position. We also launch that
way. The very first time we launched Fretless we neglected that step.
It was a steep ramp. She came down on the rubber bow support. It was
old and split in two allowing the bow to get pretty badly gouged on
the exposed metal bracket. (A bit of fiberglass repair and touch up
paint worked wonders) For a long time afterward we launched with an
old throwable boat cushion slung over the bow support. The cushion
eventually fell apart and it doesn't seem to be a problem at the
shallower ramp we use now. At the shallower ramp we have to be
careful to tighten the winch strap several times when retrieving or
the boat settles back to far and we end up with too little tongue weight.

Congrats on your new boat.
