About a week ago, I stapled a few fabric softener sheets up under the 
coamings on both sides to deter wasps.  So far, no wasps have 
returned, but it hasn't deterred the spiders.  Still got webs every 
morning in the rigging.  I think the sheets' effect is very localized.
