Alice,
It appears your motor does have an internal fuel filter.  The second and
especially the third link Mike sent you shows the location in your fuel
line.  The third link can take to a diagram that shows a blow up of the
carbonator.  I'd personally would stay away from the internal workings
of that unless you know what you are doing (lots of springs, gaskets,
and seals to fool with).   - rob
