That is consistant with my experience.
I always run the carb dry after a day on the water.
I also put stabilizer and a bit of carb cleaner in every tank.
No problems with either 2 or 4-stroke engines, even over
a winter - or in the case of a snow-blower, over the summer.
A motorcycle started after 2 years off the road.
A dry carb works for me.
