Dave said, "think it is interesting that what comes off as changing spots (or
casting aside past alliances) by some is viewed by others as a necessity in
succeeding in government roles where consensus building and compromise is
more important than being "right" all the time."
David, the issue with your concept which I understand and formally accepted
is that Progressives or Marxist and others of your ilk never accept
compromise toward a traditional or conservative direction. That is they
keep inching toward socialism or Marxism wanting compromise in their
direction only.
So your statement is that a skunk can change its spots? I think not.
Earlier this past year when I read the article explaining Whittaker
Chambers' insight about a central thesis of Marxism is replacing God with
wisdom of living and current men, I began to grasp what was happening.
Specifically some living men are imposing their will or opinion on others as
the 'right solution' to problems. That is authoritarian or dictatorial, and
is not necessarily the right or better way.
Your position results in the imposition of slavery of humans by those of
your opinion.
Obama exalted himself as ‘Change you can believe in’. The people he has
selected for his administration are ‘politics as unusual’. Nowhere in his
background has he demonstrated executive ability or experience in building
consensus of strong divergent personalities.
Another member of this forum said, “He’s a smart man and will get the job
done. Cut him a little slack.” So we cannot ask for truth and honesty when
it is Obama? I think we can and it is our duty to do so.
I understand why and what he is pretending to do. Changing your personality
or management style for image sake is not as another alluded ‘brilliant’.
Rather it is a con job on the road to serfdom.

Addendum: "We all declare for liberty, but in using the same word we do not
all mean the same thing. With some the word liberty may mean for each man to
do as he pleases with himself, and the product of his labor; while with
others the same word may mean for some men to do as they please with other
men, and the product of other men's labor. Here are two not only different,
but incompatible things, called by the same name…" A. Lincoln
