[Rhodes22-list] Hobart to Sydney Race

There are several versions of books on the incidents. I don't know which
version I read, but it was the version the film clips I saw were based
on (I'll try to remember to go back and look, my class was three years
ago). The version I read was excellent though. There were some pretty
interesting stories about what happened, to whom, and to why. Some of
the folks that perished were well-prepared, and just at the wrong place
wrong time. Some of the folks that survived were ill-prepared, and show
how unfair the sea can be.
Of particular interest were the catamaran owners. The man said that he
had "never sailed the boat off auto-pilot". Of course, auto-pilots don't
work well in storms. He told his part of the story well, but it was
still shocking to hear his and his wife's lack of experience, as well as
their odd views about sinking the boat so it could be a "beacon" to
other life forces...
Great read regardless of one's life-forces view.
