Mark,

I attached Elle's winter extravaganza with a red circle around slide that
Slim mentioned.  Otherwise between gooseneck and that slide the IMF sail is
free footed by design.  At the time that Stan designed the IMF system, free
footed sails were used in some racing sailboat.  There is supposed to be a
benefit using a free footed sail.

Most standard mains use several slides, but using several slides on a IMF
would be a tricky design.  But it has been done.
