Mike,
Is the entire trailer structure corroded beyond hope, or is the main problem in the tube?  I remedied a serious tube problem in a 22' boat trailer by welding a 3" square tube below it.  At the extreme end, where there was a gap, I fastened with bolts.  I wouldn't think of using except up and down the ramp, however.  I guess this speaks to the wisdom of galvenized, a message to new Rhoadies.  Going galvenized does not have to cost an arm and a leg.
Post a picture, especially showing weak areas and there might be suggestions from the fleet.  It would also alert painted trailer users what to watch for on their units.  You could always drive to Ct to just pick up a unit, transferring the boat near where you are.
