[Rhodes22-list] Sorry I meant the "new" Yamaha 8 or 9.9 hp

Mary Lou,
Yes, you need to disconnect the motor tiller link to raise the motor.
It's no pain at all. Pull a pin a move the arm back over the rudder.
Everything stays attached. You can check it out on my boat--once you
try it, I'm convinced you'll buy it. I have no idea how much it costs
but it can't be much even with Stan's R&D expenses. It wouldn't be too
difficult to fabricate one but the gas prices from Rock Hall to Kent
Island Hardware would kill you.

Lee,
Do you have to disconnect the motor tiller link to raise the motor?
How much of a pain is it to do that? Do you have to store any of the
parts or do they all stay attached? We still don't have a lot of
experience with our Yamaha but so far we haven't been able to
maneuver the boat as well at slow speeds in tight situations as well
as we did with the old Honda. We've always just steered with the
rudder. I suspect it's more a matter of learning to coordinate the
power of the new motor with the rudder but the tiller to rudder
linkage may be the last resort.
