I hope those who 'threaten' to leave actually hang around to see that 'da list' may have something to offer them after all.

We are not 'chasing' anyone away. They are making their own choices & making judgments before spending much time in the sandbox. Maybe the subscribing page should have a reminder to find their 'delete' key as they may need it frequently. A note soould also remind them to gird their loins.

I disagree. It is not up to  'da list' (and making more work for John) to offer other options than what already exist.  They can take the responsibility to open a new email address and direct all list mail there...and hit that 'delete' key whenever they feel like it.
