OK, I'll bite.  This list sucks.  I own a Rhodes 22, circa 1996, and love
the boat.  Unfortunately, because of my other boats' sailing schedules, I'm
thinking of selling my Rhodes.  I can check the archives (for free) for
pertinent information, or I can an subscribe to a list that has a couple/
four assholes on it who turn everything into their own forum diatribes --

Sorry, Stan, so goes the commission you might have received via this list if
I decide to sell my boat, one I would have gladly paid for the forum to
advertise my boat.  As someone else said recently, other sailing forums
converse primarily about sailing, with other banter chimed in as secondary.
Sorry I was led to believe that the Rhodes 22 list would do the same, and
not be a forum for a few to ridicule others for the benefit of their
over-inflated egos.

For a few:  Brad, Shut up.  You have boxed yourself into a corner.  Sucking
at the fat milky tit of the government while "reconstructing Katrina" is
hardly a way of proclaiming your hatred of big gubment... This "liberal"
wouldn't have spent a dime reconstructing New Orleans... But hey, I'm going
sailing on a Triton tomorrow night.. Sailed a Bristol 35 on Saturday, and
will sail my Rhodes this weekend... When did you last raise a sail -- don't
give the lame excuse that you are working too hard... Maybe you should go
sailing, as it might improve your outlook on the world...

Herb:  I guess I am a fellow traveler.  I believe we can do better in this
country than export badly conceived and even more poorly managed war at the
expense of fixing our own problems, like infrastructure, energy dependence,
and offering the next generations who might survive after you are dead in
ten or so years a future... Socialism... or American responsibility to
someone other than you...  But you know, I expect that in any given week
from April to the end of November, I spend a hell of a more time on the
water sailing than you will ever be able to enjoy...

And to others who support this kind of bully pulpit forum management,
challenge the pundits on this list to make it a Rhodes 22 sailing list --
they seem to have forgotten the simple beauty of this boat... Get it back to
sailing.

I'm signing off next week. I'm going to lurk to see what the assholes have
as rebuttals, as I'm sure they will produce a wealth of self-gratifying
pundancy that will be amusing to them (and me) for a short time.

In the meantime, think how much you might be costing General Boats in
commissions as you spew your one-sided vitriol-- wasn't using this list as a
sales point for the Rhodes a big issue for you all earlier?  If I'm willing
to voice this, how many other buyers and sellers have been turned off by
these assholes?
