Cowie is the only name that appears on your posts, so is it Chris Cowie that
is posting questions about picking up a Rhodes 22 in Edenton, North
Carolina?
Let me comment on your questions. Could you sail from Edenton to
Washington, DC area? It has been done and documented on this forum.
A study of this forums archives will show that one Captain Frone Crawford
from near Philadelphia sailed his Rhodes 22 sailboat from the factory to his
dock in New Jersey. And this was done just a few years ago. So research
the archives and you should find those posts and his experiences. Well
worth the effort since they would give you accurate facts to the questions
that you asked.
Should you get a trailer? Storage is an issue, especially in your area. I
would suggest that you specifically ask Lee, Mark P, Carol W., and the many
others from the D. C. area how they deal with this issue.
Specific questions in the subject line of posts will get better answers.
Just so they know that you are not replying or making a political or social
comment.
Trailer? Stan used to have old painted type trailers cheap! Such a trailer
is not recommended on such trips as made by Mike C. or Caesar, but would
serve getting a boat from Edenton to the D.C. area and for occassional use
such as emergency repairs, bottom painting, hurricane protection, etc.
Trailering half way is probably not worth the effort. But there are members
of this forum half way, who work at mariniasn or have boats already docked
half way who would probably be happy to assist in such a project and offer
advice...
Reread the other comments about the value of Elton Spitzer's contribution to
lauching. Something that you cannot really put a dollar value to.

Addendum: 'Making right choices in gray areas is difficult. To be aware of
the dilemma is not enough. There needs to be a moral sensitivity which
remembers to ask the right questions at the right time. To know what is
good is not enough. There is a difference between waking up and getting up.
There must be specific decision for the right. To be sensitive and aware is
good. To make proper decisions is better. The way of victory is to
maintain a moral stamina which continues.' Paraphrase of Bryan Crenshaw
