Slim,
I'd vote for the inside access for the chain plate. It enters the
top of the cabin and then takes a 90 degree bend after it is under the 5/8
plywood. Having had to do this a couple of times it isn't too hard but you
will need to cut into the head liner and then fashion two (to make it
semetrical) pieces of nice teak or mahogany to cover up the 2" by 8" hole on
one side and the other for the other side. Good Luck!
