[Rhodes22-list] Bush's service record- Political? (was This day in history)

I don't know that I would call his service record "great"; but he did
something that most of us aren't able to do, he qualified (and served)
as a pilot on one of the first supersonic fighter planes this country
used. My personal opinion is that his military service was much like
that of many others who served. He did what he was supposed to do. My
guess is that just about any fighter pilot that serves (even stateside)
has something going on for them that's a step above your average 22-28
year old.
The bigger issue to me though, is this: Bush's military record is of no
consequence. He's not running for ANYTHING. I doubt he'll bother much
with politics anymore, it's kind of hard to top "2 term US president"
(and I really don't think Laura is going to try to run).
The ONLY purpose in bringing this up was a vent for the rabid
Bush-haters on here. That was what I found offensive. There was never
any attempt, from the very first post on the topic, for rational
conversation or discussion. It was just one more desperate attempt from
the losing side to whine and moan. In reality, it showed the rest of us
what they really are. Losers. I make no apologies for my interpretations
of what the attempt was, or for my assessment of it. To the contrary, I
thought my view was pretty crystal clear.
