[Rhodes22-list] miles per gallon

A lot depends on your speed. Since the Rhodes is a displacement hull, if you figure 21 feet at the waterline(really closer to 20') it can't go any faster than 5.7 knots which translates to around 6.5 MPH. I get about 4.5 -5 miles per gallon on my 10 year old Johnson 9.9 by getting boat up to maximum speed under full throttle and then backing off on the throttle little by little until I can just maintain maximum speed with minimum throttle.
Without bucking waves or a strong headwind I get a maximum of 5 miles of linear distance per gallon. I assume your Yamaha is a 2 stroke engine; you get better mileage on a 4 stroke with the same rated horsepower.

I'd be curious as to what some of you salt water sailors get in tidal waters.
Happy cruising!

Does anyone know about how many miles per gallon the Rhodes 22 will get with
  a Yamaha 9.9?
