Brad thanks for your words, references, and statement:
“You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift.
You cannot help small men by tearing down big men.
You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong.
You cannot lift the wage-earner by pulling down the wage-payer.
You cannot help the poor man by destroying the rich.
You cannot keep out of trouble by spending more than your income.
You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred.
You cannot establish security on borrowed money.
You cannot build character and courage by taking away men's initiative and
independence.
You cannot help men permanently by doing for them what they could and should
do for themselves.”
You did not cite any reference? Your words? If so, assign credit at end,
'Brad Haslett'.
And I say again, it is important to read history and understand the picture
that history presents. I remain convinced that Obama views history and
economics from the Marxist perspective.
If you take the Ben Franklin approach of evaluating economic history, that
separate the +'s and -'s and add them up, history has shown that humanity
has benefited more from systems other than Marxism based. The condition of
mankind in total has changed dramatically since the development of
democratic capitalism.
Socialism in its various forms has created misery, death and destruction.
Having read many of Obama's words I felt that he tried not to be as Marxist
as his teachers. But, that was and still is a question, an issue that goes
to integrity, honesty.
I remain knowing that you can be honest and candid and succeed in politics.
If he goes Marxist, then he will have at least been honest. If he goes
middle road then he will confirm my suspicions.
“The people have a right, an indisputable, unalienable, indefeasible, divine
right to that most dreaded and envied kind of knowledge - I mean of the
character and conduct of their rulers” John Adams
