Rummy,
This thing started out life as a Kubota 1560 lawnmower and has run
perfectly for 15 years, and still starts instantly. It's not getting
fuel through the filter and it is not gravity fed so its the pump or
the vacuum source for the pump. My brother says the valve clearance
tolerances are very, very close on these critters and he thinks it may
be an intake valve out of adjustment. See what your friend says. My
hangarmate has his John Deere on hand till I get this one running
again but he only has a hitch on the back and it's tough backing in
versus pushing in (I've got a front mounted shock-absorbing hitch on
the front of the Kubota). Price that filter while you've got your
friend on the phone - it is a Makuni (Japanese for "we're going to
charge you out the wahooni").
