Robert,

You are confused between the difference of a hand wench and a hole
wench. The objective here is to slide the tongue in to the appropriate
depth. This endeavor can be enhanced by using two wenches with one
being operated as a "block and tackle".  Extension devices are also
useful. Proper lubrication is the key to many operations. Often times,
units fresh from the factory with a new appearance but tighter
tolerances are the most troublesome. Certainly, one can handle this
task alone, but it is usually more pleasurable when the workload is
shared.
