Bill;

I think the most significant fact you cited was that she re-entered on a US
passport.  I suspect that when the age of majority was 21 (now 18) there may
have been a regulation that required renewal of a passport upon attaining
21.  I think that may be what was going on.  Otherwise I'm not sure what
that was all about.
