Ed,

The Cubans aren't buying into the socialist program (at least not the
older ones with some experience) -

Once again, the foreign press is doing what the US MSM is unwilling to do.

There is an active movement afoot called, "Go John Galt". These are
not a bunch of wackos,
the unelected, unofficial leader right now is Dr. Helen Smith, a
practicing psychiatrist (and wife of blogger Glen Reynolds) The idea
is this: if the government is going to punish your productivity, your
creativity, and your willingness to take risks, why bother. My wife
and I are uniquely positioned to "Go John Galt". Our debt is low, our
lifestyle is cheap to maintain, our needs are simple. I can start
dropping trips and refuse to teach. Why bother?

Socialism sounds great to those with no experience with it, that's not
the case in our household. Anyone who thinks defining the "rich"
downward so you can steal their wealth for the benefit of others is a
fool. Good luck with that program, it has never worked at any time or
at any place on the planet. Ever!
