Ed,
You really need to start taking your meds again. First of all, I can't
believe that you have the time to write this crap. Secondly, I am trying to
understand your totally convoluted brain and why it works this way. You really need
to start drinking.......and never stop. It will give you a whole new
perspective on life.

Recently several snide remarks were made toward a returning Rhodie by a
newbie without aforethought to whom the remarks were directed. This is
consistent with contemporary liberalism. Specifically, They did no
recognizable serious research into the underlying facts.
Could it have been that the jokes are trying to politely tell the recipient
something about himself? Could they be asking real questions as to whether
these educated people are making any good contribution to real problems?
I would suggest the possibility that lawsuits are just a form of coercion.
Often the coercion applied is economically more deleterious than the
original problem. Humans respond to leadership and rebel against coercion.
Rather these folks accept a feel good answer to social problems. I would
like to ask Peter if he ever sat down and listened to a survivor of the
Soviet Socialist system that escaped from that system before or shortly
after the collapse of the ‘Iron Curtain’.
Others point to socialized medicine in Europe as a working solution. There
is a reason why most of the best physicians around the world ardently seek
to practice medicine in the USA. The reason is that socialized medicine
does not offer the best care nor does it offer the best health care workers
an environment conducive to the best medical practice.
I can point to some very competent individuals who made the best of a bad
situation. Specifically to some physicians and other health care workers
who choose to work within the socialist system. After talking with those
physicians, nurses and other health care workers all believed that
socialized medicine was not the best answer.
What I say, is that for the most part the supporters of nationalized health
care have studied neither the facts nor the caregivers assessments. They
are trying to inject a feel good opinion on others. They are trying to use
the power of the state (government) to accomplish their personal opinions.
They are trying to use the failed Marxist solutions in America. And, again
I ask which system has a demonstrable track record of providing a higher
standard of living for all? The historical answer is not socialism.
I ask how long the Philadelphia lawyer would have been on a waiting list in
a socialized country for elective surgery ? Or in order to be moved up the
list how many payments would be needed (typical solution is graft)?
Whereas, in America his doctor got him an appointment for his surgery at the
hospital/clinic of his choice. Freedom is amazing and elusive and it does
not come from socialism.

addendum:
“Barack Obama's motto "Change you can believe in" has acquired a new
meaning, changing his positions is the only thing you can believe in. His
campaign began with a huge change in the image he projects, compared to what
he was doing for 20 years before.” Thomas Sowell (it should be noted that
Sowell is a black man with a Ph.D. in economics and studied at the
University of Chicago)
