[Rhodes22-list] Sailing related? Question for Bill Effros? Seagulls?

Thanks, Ed,
I'm the one. (Actually my big problem is Ospreys.)
The last time I went out to my boat I passed a boat with a gullsweep on
it. Just outside the circle made by the gullsweep sat a gull, taking a
crap on the Bimini, with its head moving in a circular pattern as it
watched the gullsweep go round and round.
I used to fly a lot of kites, and am looking to kite solutions now.
I've started flying kites from the boat -- challenging until you work
out the rigging problems, but a lot of fun. I've rigged a halyard with
loops to fly mini kites with annoying long tails. They will always flap
toward the top of the mast when there is any wind at all. We'll have to
see if they get fouled in the rigging or not. After that I go to bird
spikes.
As soon as the weather clears I'll try the pan head screw solution to
the broken jib sail loop problem. It looks good to me -- we'll see.
Slim,
I used your Mast Lowering notes to good purpose. Thanks. I haven't
raised or lowered the mast in 2 years, so I get very out of practice.
Following your notes, there were people on the ground applauding the
result. (Literally.) Thanks. I think I've finally got the procedure
straight in my mind. I had been over-complicating it.
BE.
