Rummy,

That is good news and further proof that markets work. But, it's not
all good news. Read Matthew Simmons "Twilight in the Desert". Simmons
theory is that the Saudi reserves are way overstated, and their fields
are more mature than the Saudis are revealing based on the volume of
water cut. The Brazil finds are good news, especially for Brazil, and
any big finds off the coast of Cuba (and the coast of Florida) will be
good news for Cuba and their partners including China. Word on the
street has it that the new "basket price" for crude should be in the
$70-$80 per barrel range. That will certainly be good news for our
economy, but (there's always a but) makes the market for alternatives
less attractive. If you are a disciple of Global Warming this is not
good news. I'll say it again, if you're serious about GW, you have to
tax the outputs, not the inputs.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, let's end this silliness
of ethanol once and for all. McCain has stuck by his efforts to end
subsidies for this bad farm policy, bad environmental policy, bad
energy policy, and bad economic policy even though he needs farm
states to get elected. Obama is in ADM's pocket.
