"Peter,

What difference do think the weight of a boat implies for the size of the
anchor?"

Bill,

Since you are asking my opinion I suppose there are no wrong answers, so
here goes.

Talking with some of the people who spent the night in the clubhouse at
Blackbeard when 60mph winds blew up the creek, they all said great choppy
waves formed with lots of spray. During the peak winds around dawn they saw
30 and 40 foot boats bouncing around like ping pong balls in the wind driven
chop. So, while I do understand that wind load on freeboard creates much of
the anchor load, there is surely also some kinetic energy involved with this
bouncing and this also contributes to the anchor load. The heavier the
boat, the greater this weight related load will be.

That's my answer and I'm sticking to it!
