[Rhodes22-list] By way of introduction, Ahoy, and request for advice

Andy,
I'm with Rummy, looks like someone made some modifications. Here are
some photos of Getaway when the PO did open trunk surgery. While these
photos are of the interior of the cap, you can see where my pulleys are
mounted. I don't believe I have through bolts in the cap. I'm pretty
sure the double block is attached to the inside of the cap without
anything penetrating the caps.

And what is annoying is the PO replace the blue line with a thicker line
and now it won't let water drain through the pennant tube. - rob

Andy,
Sounds like you have the right idea. Apparently somewhere along the line
a
previous owner made some modifications to the pulley system. I will have
pictures of my cap and pulley system for you tonight. I know that Stan
has made
modifications over the years, but I've never seen your arrangement.

Here are some pics and a graphic. The drawing is from the article on
the
website about how to rehab your centerboard, trunk and cap. (don't
worry,
Stan, I'll get a recycled Rhodes before I would attempt that on CEALA!)
The problem area, as I see it is where the double mini block (in the
drawing) for the mechanical advantage attaches and the bolts go thru
the
hull. There are 2 gaskets, one fiberglass and one rubber. The
fiberglass
gasket appears sound, but the rubber gasket is deformed by the nuts and
(too
small) washers. I'm going to get a new strip of rubber and a SS plate
to go
over it. Then I will replace the washers on the nuts with larger one.
I'm
fairly sure this is the only leak. Thanks for you input.
